Although the Civil Procedure Rules in the Civil Courts have improved
access to the law, other methods of dispute resolution can often be more appropriate in
certain cases and usually less costly. Arbitration Awards and Independent Expert
determinations are regularly used to resolve rent review disputes, and, with the advent of
PACT (Professional Arbitration on Court Terms) these methods can also be used to resolve
lease renewal disputes.
Brandon Simms is a trained Arbitrator and Independent Expert and holds the
certificate in Rent Review Arbitration. He is on the interview panel for new
Arbitrators. As well as acting as the third party Brandon also uses his experience
to help present cases in front of other Arbitrators and Independent Experts.
